Problems and Solutions
All windows 95/98 systems have a My Computer icon, unless someone
re-named it, verify that the user is looking at the desktop, and have them locate the name
of their My Computer icon.
Dialup Networking is not installed by default by
Windows setup program. This may need to be installed. First verify that it's not
installed. Have the user double click on My Computer, double click Control Panel, double
click Add/Remove programs. Along the top of the new windows that comes up there are 3
tabs, have the user click on the tab titled Windows Setup, and double click
Communications. Verify that the box next to Dialup Networking is not checked. If it is
checked, have the user un-check it, and click OK, then Apply, reboot and continue this
step. If it is not checked, have the user check the box, then click OK, and Apply, it may
ask for their windows CD-ROM. |
If Dialup Networking is installed, there should always be a Make a
New Connection icon. Have the user scroll left and right, and up and down to verify it's
not in that window, and follow the step above to remove and re-install Dialup Networking.
